According to its origin, this proverb existed because it was derived the Roman poet Horace. It shows that beautiful literature coins people’s sayings in England. It describes how Homer, the greatest Greek poet who lived around the 8th century BC, sometimes became drowsy, and expresses that even the greatest expert can sometimes make mistakes; in the late 14th century, this English proverb was recorded and derived from the Roman poet Horace: “I’m aggrieved when sometimes even excellent Homer nods” (Knowles, 2006).
